Lemon Owl: Danish Paper Star Garland

В этом году я хочу сделать как можно больше украшений своими руками. Сегодня я хочу показать, как сделать вот такую бумажную гирлянду. Может показаться, что процесс очень сложный, но это не так.

Hello everyone, Cari here! Christmas is getting closer and until that day I will be making only Christmas related post, why? Because I love Christmas. And this year I will try to add as many handmade decoration as I can. Today I want to show you this garland I made with danish paper stars. But first I will show you how to make this star. It might look pretty hard, but is not that much.

Для начала нужно вырезать 4 полоски одинаковой длины. Для этого я взяла лист Christmas carols из коллекции Cozy Winter. Я выбрала эту бумагу, потому что благодаря ее неоднородному цвету из нее получаются разные по насыщенности звездочки.

The first thing you need is to cut 4 strips of paper of the same size. I cut strips of 1/2" x 12" and I used Cozy Winter - Christmas carols paper. I chose this paper for my project because with the different shades of blues you can get stars slightly different.

Согните каждую полоску пополам и слегка загните уголки по краям. Так вам будет легче продевать бумагу в отверствия. Когда вы согнули все полоски, теперь нужно сформировать из них квадрат: проденьте полоску 1 в 2, полоску 2 в 3, полоску 3 в 4 и затем полоску 4 в 1.

Fold each of your strips in half. Fold the ends in on each strip a little bit, this way it will be easier for you push strips through paper later. Once you had you strips fold make a square with them: pull strip 1 through 2; 2 through 3; 3 through 4 and for closing your square slide strip 4 through 1.

Потяните за полоски, так, чтобы в середине образовался квадрат.

Pull the ends to form a square in the center.

Теперь у нас есть лицевой квадрат. Далее работаем на обратной стороне. Согните полоску 2, и затем согните полоску 1, накрывая ею полоску 2.

We have our front square. Let's continue to our back square. Fold up strip 2, and then overlap strip 1 over strip 2.

Загибаем полоску 4 поверх полоску 1.

Fold strip 4 over strip 1.

Загибаем полоску 3 поверх полоски 4, и чтобы завершить квадрат, продеваем полоску 3 под полоской 2. На этом этапе у вас получается одна сторона цветная, а обратная - белая.

Fold strip 3 over strip 4 and to close our square slide, strip 3 through strip 2. At this step you will have one side of your cross with colors and one white.

Теперь нужно сделать острие звезды. Сгибаем полоску 2 под углом 45 градусов.
Now we are going to make the points of the star. Take strip 2 and fold it making a 45 degrees fold.

Еще раз сгибаем под углом 45 градусов и вас должен получится угол, как на картинке.

Fold again into 45 degrees and you will have a point as shown on the image.

Поворачиваем полоску влево и загибаем.

Turn the strip left and fold this point in half.

И чтобы завершить этот этап, продеваем полоску 4 под полоской 1.

And to close up the point, slide strip 4 through strip 1.

Сначала это покажется сложным. Я продеваю полоску таким образом - держу загнутый уголок, чтобы он не развернулся.

This might be a little hard, so what I do to make it easier is to pull my point down, this way, while I'm sliding my strip the point doesn't unfold.

Вот так должна выглядеть заготовка в итоге.

This is how it might look when you are done.

Теперь просто нужно повторить этот этап на всех полосках.

Now you have to repeat this folding with all your strips.

Переворачиваем заготовку и повторяем тоже самое еще раз на обратной стороне.

Now you have to turn your cross and reapeat this step in all the 4 strips.

В итоге должно получится 8 уголков.
After that you might have 8 points.

Теперь будем делать объемные уголки на звезде. Нужно немного вытянуть одну из полосок, порядок не важен. Я вытянула полоску 2, поэтому сейчас я буду работать с полоской 3. Проденьте полоску 3 через полоску 2, образовывая тем самым петлю, как на фото. Нужно делать это очень аккуратно.

Now we are going to make the 3d part of the star. You need to pull back one of the strips, the order doesn't matter. I pulled back strip 2, so I have to work with strip 3. Slide strip 3 through slide 2 in order to make a loop, as show on the photo. You have to do this very carefully.

Я использую для этого пинцет, мне так легче. (Обратите внимание, что ваша полоска, которую вы продеваете, будет выходить из уголка, который мы до этого сделали).

For me this step is particularly hard so I use a tweezer. (Notice that your slide will be coming out from one of points we previously made).
